We were delighted to welcome almost 500 supporters to the return of our flagship walking event, Bridges of London on Sunday 14 June. Together, #TeamLymphoma walked six miles and crossed eight iconic London bridges to show their support for people affected by lymphoma. It was wonderful to see the lymphoma community come together, especially in our 40th anniversary year, as we celebrate four decades of support for people affected by the UK’s most common type of blood cancer.
Across the UK, supporters have also been putting on their purple t-shirts and taking part in their own Bridges of Britain walks. Together, our Bridges supporters have walked over 3,200 miles and have raised more than £123,000!
“We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has taken part in our Bridges events this year” says Amy Billington, Senior Fundraising Manager at Lymphoma Action. “Our Bridges walks are a special chance to come together to show solidarity with people living with lymphoma. We love hearing why people walk with us — whether they’re raising awareness of lymphoma, supporting someone through treatment, or walking in memory of a loved one. To everyone who took part, sponsored our walkers or cheered them on to the finish – thank you!”
“Every year, more than 18,000 people in the UK are told they have lymphoma” she adds. “We are truly grateful to everyone who has joined #TeamLymphoma this year. Their support helps us make sure people can navigate a lymphoma diagnosis with the information, support and community they need, so no one has face lymphoma alone.”
