At these support meetings, you’ll meet others who are managing the challenges of this intensive treatment for relapsed or refractory lymphoma. CAR-T cell therapy usually involves a hospital stay and can have serious side effects, with a long recovery time. Although CAR-T cell therapy has developed considerably, there are still significant risks and the long-term effects are unknown. This brings added uncertainty for people who are already coping with the physical, emotional and practical effects of relapsed or refractory lymphoma.
The types of lymphoma currently treated with CAR-T cell therapy are diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma (PMBL) and mantle cell lymphoma, though there are clinical trials being undertaken for other types, which you can explore on Lymphoma TrialsLink.
- If you are not having, expect to have, or are recovering from the effects of CAR-T cell therapy, please see our range of other support meetings.
- If this meeting is not convenient, you might find one of our Relapsed and Refractory or Treatment support meetings a good alternative.
- Registration is for the service as a whole, so please submit only one registration form, joining whichever support meeting best suits your needs. If you would like to discuss which meeting is best for you before registering, please email us at services.managers@lymphoma-action.org.uk.
- Carers are not eligible to join these meetings. Instead, you are welcome to join one of our Family, Friends & Carers support meetings.
Our support meetings provide a safe, confidential place where people affected by lymphoma can talk to each other about their experience, express their thoughts and feelings, gain insight from connecting with others, and get support and information. They last an hour and follow a common structure. The facilitator will listen, seek to understand your experience and help address any questions or worries you have.
Support meetings are hosted on Zoom, but you don't need a Zoom account or experience of using Zoom. You will need access to an internet-enabled device with functioning microphone, speakers and camera.
To register for the support meeting service, you must be aged 18 or over, resident in the UK, and personally affected by lymphoma. For more information, please see our full Online Support Meetings Terms of Use.
